Lovelies List — 1.27.12

So I’ve switched things up a bit and am now posting my Lovelies List on Fridays and linking up with Lauren from From My Grey Desk for High Five For Fridays.

I’ve had a great week, and I hope you have too!

1. It’s a Boy! — This week my best friend had her first baby, A BOY! I’m a little biased, but I am pretty sure he is one of the cutest babies that I’ve seen. I can’t wait to meet him when we fly out to Houston in a couple of months!

2. Crazy for Coral — A couple of weeks ago I posted about my new obsession with the color coral and adding this to our home decor. Well, I am on my way after purchasing this FANTASTIC chair at Pier1 this week.

This isn’t the greatest picture, but the stripes are a
coral color and my rug and pillow are navy

3. Diadra’s Chicken Salad — My friend Daidra has this AMAZING recipe for a super yummy chicken salad. I made it on Sunday and enjoyed it for lunch everyday this week. It saved me money and calories from eating lunch out! Stay tuned, I’ll post the recipe soon.

4. Who says you can’t teach and old dog new tricks? — This week I made it my mission to keep our ADORABLE dog, Macy from sleeping on our bed. I thought this would be hard, but to my surprise she’s been great and has spent the last two nights on her bed the entire night. YEAH!

5. National Chocolate Cake Day — is today and in celebration I’m making Reese’s Pieces Cupcake Crowns to enjoy with my honey’s family tonight.

  1. Aww, I have a black lab, too, and he sleeps with us every nite. Bad habit to start, haha!
I am obsessed with coral as well. It’s such a happy, beautiful color!

    • Hi Leslie —

I moved her bed next to my side of the bed and put a warm blanket on it for her to snuggle up in. The first night was hard because I kept getting up each time she jumped up on our bed to tell her to get down. Then each night after she slept right on her bed. I’ve also been giving her treats after we’ve gone on a walk on her bed in the living room. I tell her to get on her bed and lay down before I give her the treat. I had planned to bring some treats to the bedroom to give her as praise, but I haven’t done this yet. I’ve also kept the door to our bedroom closed when I’m not home so she can’t relax on it while we are away. When we are home I’m more aware of when she goes upstairs and if I hear her jump up on the bed I yell for her to get down and she does.

I’ve been surprised how quickly she’s responded. I hope that it stays this way. Now I need to work on keeping her off the sofa and chairs in our living room. Currently we have plastic chair mats cut and turned pointy side up so she won’t get up there. UGH!

Good luck to you. What kind of dog do you have?

  2. Hey Britt — Your comment ended up in my spam filter and I just saw this…sorry for the delayed response! I can’t wait to check out your blog. It seems like I’ve seen so many Bama bloggers out there…blah! šŸ™‚ Thanks for following and have a great Tuesday!
