Weekend Without Words

ONE :: Spent the weekend at the lovely Kirkland Manor in St. Michaels, MD, working a wedding. We had perfect weather on Saturday and Sunday, just glorious!

TWO :: Incredible sunsets on the waters off St. Michaels. Perfect ending to a beautiful day.

THREE :: So a couple of weeks ago I treated myself to my first (and likely last) gel manicure. It did not last the 2-3 weeks as promised by the nail tech. Thanks to Pinterest, I was able to save a few bucks with this DIY process for removing gel manicures. I look like I have tinfoil club fingers. 🙂

FOUR :: My patient Macy. She will let me do anything embarrassing to her. What dog doesn’t want to wear a scarf in the house? Oh, and to get her to tilt her head in this adorable position, all you have to do is say one of her favorite words, supper, squirrel, rabbits, outside, ball…the list goes on and on. Really if you just talk to her, she’ll tilt her head to one side. Freaking. Adorable!

ONE :: Macy apparently got a little chilly in the middle of the night and snuggled her way under the covers. Needless to say, Operation Keep Macy Off the Bed – Part Deux will commence shortly.

TWO :: Spent the afternoon shopping for bathroom accessories for my newly painted powder room. Stay tuned for a post on the before and after of this project…I still need to paint the ceiling and do a little touch up.

THREE :: Love this cute little birdie for the bathroom.

FOUR :: Not the best picture in the world, but I went to a DivaFit Pole Masters show on Saturday night with my girls. What’s DivaFit and Pole Masters you ask? Look closely behind us in the pictures. Yup those are poles, as in “stripper” poles. DivaFit is a local pole fitness studio. Don’t knock it till you try it. These women have incredible strength. They were handing parallel to the floor, holding on with just one arm. Amazing strength and beauty.

FIVE :: Saw this at the grocery store, and this southern gal had to give it a try. Y’all, Front Porch has taken the classic drink of the south, sweet tea and turned it into an incredible ice cream flavor! Seriously this stuff is amazing. It is sweet tea ice cream with bits of tea cake pieces mixed in. Delicious.

SIX ::  Master bathroom renovation update. The needle is moving, y’all. We have tile on the walls and things are coming along. The image on the left is the wall next to our soaking tub and shows the beginning of some of the decorative tile. The image on the right is the inside of your shower and shows a sample of what our shower floor tile will look like next to the wall tile.

Well hello, Lovelies! It’s been waaayyyy too long, I know! I’ve had a super busy summer, really a super busy month. I spent a week at the beach with my incredible family, been working like crazy and spending time on some home remodel/redecorating projects. Missed y’all, but I’ve got some posts lined up to catch y’all up on what I’ve been up to and the things that have inspired me this past month. So without anymore rambling, here’s my Month Without Words…

ONE :: Farmer’s Markets are popping up everywhere, including at the Bethany Beach boardwalk. Mom, sister and I spent a little time picking out some fresh fruits and veggies for our week at the beach.

TWO :: Dad, my brother-in-law, sister, oldest niece, J and I all got up at 5:50 to watch the sunrise. It was amazingly beautiful, quiet and peaceful.

THREE :: J.A.M. (Johnson. Allen. Mercer) Week always concludes with some formal and not-so formal family portraits. This pic is all of us giving it up for another great week together. I love these people so much and the time we get to spend together gets better and better each year. XO!

FOUR :: My FSIL and I enjoyed a fantastic evening at the Nationals game! We sat 8 rows behind home plate. Stay tuned for a post dedicated to this fun night and of course my dress.

FIVE :: As if a master bathroom remodel wasn’t enough at our house, I thought I’d take on painting our powder room. It’s a work in progress, but I love the color, “watery” and can’t wait to finish updating the room with new fixtures and coral accents.

ONE :: Happy Birthday cake for my friend Erin! XO!

TWO :: The spa I go to has these amazing blankets that are so plush and soft. You can buy them…for $140+ each. I think I’ll just cozy up in one while I’m there, thanks.

THREE :: Treated myself to a 90  minute massage at Calvert Rejuvenations. Probably one of the best massages I’ve ever had. Pure relaxation.

FOUR :: Did a little post massage shopping at Reston Town Center. Found this adorable navy and coral clutch at Francesca’s.

FIVE :: Sweet Frog fro-yo for lunch after church, yes please!

SIX :: Made this delicious fruit salsa with homemade cinnamon-sugar crisps for our small group study.

Let me preface this with I had a very relaxing and quiet weekend. It was perfect and very needed. Sorry there aren’t many pics, but I really didn’t do much.

ONE :: Pan-Grilled Halibut with Chimichurri, Charred Vegetables with Rice and Chardonney. Great kick-off to a relaxing weekend!

TWO :: I traveled about 40 minutes west to Bluemont Vineyards to meet with a lovely couple. We will be coordinating their 30th wedding anniversary party in October at this vineyard. This is the view when I stepped out of my car. On a clear day they say you can see all the way into DC. Hands down this vineyard has some of the best views in Loudoun County.

THREE :: I bought these adorable jammy pants at the Old Navy outlet. Being almost six feet tall, they aren’t quite pants as much as they are high-waters. So I whipped out the sewing machine and gave them a quick hem.  Now they’re capris…perfecto!

ONE :: Went with all the other crazy women to see Magic Mike on Friday. This was the line that had formed 45 minutes before the show started. It was crazy! The movie was as I had expected, not great in terms of the plot but some pretty great eye candy.

TWO :: While wandering around Home Depot waiting for J, I came across these gorgeous orchids. The colors are so vibrant and pretty. Love!

THREE :: My good friend’s son graduated from high school so we gave him a little cash. You know, in case of an emergency.

FOUR :: J & I decided to give phase 1 of the Digest Diet a try. We’ve both been feeling a little sluggish from having made not so great choices these past few weeks. My friend has seen some great results so far, so we figured it’s worth a shot. These are the ingredients for the shake we made for breakfast. I’m not a smoothie person, I just don’t like the creamy consistency. I forced down a chocolate, banana & peanut butter shake.  J, like a pro gulped it down and moved on. He’s not a baby like I am..

FIVE :: We had terrible storms blow through the area on Friday, knocking out power all over the place. Including the tile shop, but luckily they were still open. The crazy home remodelers that we are we went to look at tile in the dark. And found the perfect wall and tub tile to compliment our floor tile. The pics are great, but the story is funny!

SIX :: Snack! Green peppers with a mixture of fat-free cream cheese, chives and chopped tomato. Pretty tasty.

SEVEN ::  Hearty Mexican Soup. I know it seems insane to eat soup on a 100+ degree day. But it’s part of phase 1 of this Digest Diet. The soup is actually pretty tasty and filling. I’d make it again

ONE :: J & I started the weekend off with a date night at Passion Fish.

TWO :: Yummy sushi!

THREE :: Ended date night with Pitango gelato in dark chocolate and cinnamon.

FOUR :: Two super excited people ready to shop for faucets. I should have taken a post faucet shopping pic…uh yikes faucets are expensive!

FIVE :: Even this beach bunny would love a driveway like this. J & I spent the gorgeous afternoon with our 8B family at a pool party out in the country, a.k.a. Winchester, VA. Dani, does this count as being included in the Weekend Without Words post? We didn’t do a group shot…fail!

SIX :: On our way home from the pool party, this hot air balloon passed right over the top of our car.  Pretty cool!
